In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

When creating my magazine I was trying to avoid the unnecessary conventions of most magazines. Obviously conventions such as the mast head, headline feature and date line are unavoidable. I did this as the audience I am aiming for is seen to be rebellious and un-conformant; I thought this would be a good way to attract their attention.
The masthead is one of the conventions that I kept similar to other magazines. I took my inspiration from the Kerrang! masthead. The reason I did this is that the target audience that I am aiming for is very similar to Kerrang!’s target audience. As you can see the text is of a similar font and it features a smaller information bar at the top.


The main image is large and takes up most of the page which is another convention that I decided to use that other magazines usually have. It is important to use this as not to confuse the possible buyer and to keep it attractive. Although I have kept the image the same size and positioning as other magazines may feature I have made it very stylistic and made it so it could look like it was not a photograph at all. The headline is also an important part of the front cover as it will be the main attraction of
